HIFU delivers a low amount of focused ultrasound energy to specific layers of the skin.  The body responds by producing more collagen in those areas.

On average, each session lasts between 45 and 60 minutes. Larger areas such as décolleté or abdomin require more time.

In some cases there is slight reddening of the skin in the treatment area, but this dissipates within a few hours. Other effects may include minor swelling, tingling, and/or sensitivity to touch.

The number of sessions will vary from patient to patient, but on average a client will need two to three sessions.

The treatment itself is generally considered painless, it is common to experience a "zinging" or prickling sensation in some areas.  A feeling of warmth in the treatment area is also reported by some patients.

- minimal number of sessions to see results

- it does not damage the epidermis

- it does not require injections or incisions

- there is no recovery time after treatment

- collagen structures hold onto hyaluronic acid, reducing dryness

- the result is natural

- it is not painful

- it is suitable for all skin types/tones

Results vary from person to person and are not guaranteed, but generally people immediately see a slight improvement to the firmness and fullness of the skin that will gradually improve up to six months.

When using HIFU to break up fat deposits, the body continues to eliminate the destroyed fat cells for up to six months post treatment. The results are gradual and long lasting.

The results of HIFU treatment typically last one to two years. Without any follow up treatment the skin will continue to age at your normal rate.

HIFU is considered safe to use for cosmetic purposes. From Within Esthetics uses a CSA inspected/approved device made specifically for HIFU cosmetic treatment application.

Any adult over 18 years old in good health can consider HIFU. However, HIFU is not for everyone. Contraindications such as metal implants, pacemakers, keloid scars, skin cancer, recent Botox or filler, and certain medications would require an alternative form of treatment.

By taking care of yourself, inside and out. Staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol and cigarette smoke, eating a balanced diet, and having a skin care regimen that includes high spf sunscreen will have a big impact on the health of your body's largest organ - the skin.

Limiting sun exposure by wearing a hat or light clothing is also essential to the health and appearance of the skin.  Drinking plenty of water throughout the day, especially after treatment, will help flush out the destroyed cells and promote the regeneration of collagen. Dietary protein is essential to the formation of collagen in the body, make sure you're getting enough.  Avoid anti inflamatory drugs if possible, the body's inflamatory response to HIFU triggers your skin to produce more collagen.
